The making of a community event:

Jeff Brantner, Deputy Director of the Yakima Greenway Foundation, saw an opportunity when FitKids organizers approached him about hosting a family fitness day at the Greenway. Brantner had already been working with the Central Washington University Dietetic Interns Family Fitness Walk and was wise enough to see that with the resources available from the CWU dieticians, FitKids fitness experts, the Greenway venue, staff and the Gap 2 Gap crew, Family Field Day could be a complete family fitness event for the Yakima Valley!

FitKids would like to thank Jeff Brantner & Al Brown of Yakima Greenway Foundation and Linda Cashman and the Central Washington University Dietetic Interns for their partnership in this event.

Remember... families that play together stay together! Come out and play May 1st at the 5th Annual Family Field Day!

Central Washington University - Family Consumer Science

Join the United States National Luge Team at Chesterly Park for your chance to experience the thrill of luge… street luge that is! In addition to testing your skill at luge, many local family fitness providers will be on hand with more fun and games.

FitKids USA and White Pass Ski Area will have an obstacle course set up, the Yakima YMCA will provide several games, Yakima Athletic Club will be on hand with soccer and agility fun and the Yakima Tennis Club and YCTA will provide everyone with a chance to show off that forehand! The Fall Fitness Friday with USA Luge is the precursor to the Verizon Slider Search – a national campaign to identify talented youth for the USA LUGE Junior Development Team.
